Introduction

Hello, we are Tom and Cynthia. We have been together for over eight years and married for seven. We have been trying to become parents for many years with many difficult struggles along the way. We want to adopt because our desire to become parents is still just as strong today as it was seven years ago when we were first married. We are very excited to fulfill our dream of welcoming children into our hearts and home through adoption. We would like you to know that our home will be filled with laughter, love and a lifetime of cherished moments. Our hope is for peace in your heart as you make this choice for your child’s future. You can ask us any questions to get to know us more if you would like. We would love the opportunity to share more about ourselves and our family to let you know us better. We are both excited and humbled that you are considering us as parents. It is our hope that this profile will help you to get an idea of who we are and the type of life that we could provide for your child. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us!

Our Family and a Little Bit About Us:

Our first date seems just like yesterday with the robust smell of coffee and sweet sugary donuts at a local Dunkin Donuts where we ended up talking and laughing for hours. After dating for six months Tom proposed while visiting Cynthia’s Grandma in The Rocky Mountains. We were married in March of 2014 surrounded by dozens of family members and friends. It was most memorable to have ten children in our wedding party as our flower girls and ring bearers. Many of our students and their families were present too.

What Cynthia has to say about Tom:

Tom

Tom is my best friend and the most loyal and compassionate person that I know. As a husband, he is loving, thoughtful and cares about all the little things in life that brings me joy! Tom and I are quite different in many ways, but he has brought balance to my life and was certainly worth the wait. Tom’s discernment and “even keel” caring personality has been highly valued in my large side of the family. His commitment and unwavering support to his students and myself is what I look forward to seeing the most once he is able to be a dad. He loves with his whole heart and brings out the best in people with his patience and unconditional trust.

What Tom has to say about Cynthia:

Cynthia is fun loving and is always up for an adventure. Her beautiful smile and bubbly laugh immediately light up any room she enters. She has the most giving heart of anyone that I have ever known. She loves with her whole heart and soul. She would do anything for those that she loves and for her family.   I know without a doubt, that she will be a devoted mother and will make sure that a child feels loved everyday. As a teacher, I have watched her fight for the needs and wellbeing of children for years. Any child that we adopt will have a mother that loves them unconditionally and fights for their needs with the heart of a lioness. This unyielding desire to fight for and care for all children is just one of the many reasons that I fell in love with her!

Parenting Philosophy:20210227-DSC_0049

Raising children is a team effort. Our parenting philosophy is centered around both of us working together to do what is best for our child. We will make decisions together. We believe in having loving boundaries that will keep our child safe but able to make mistakes and take responsibility. We will guide them as they discover their strengths, passions and purpose through various activities, as well as encouraging them to pursue their talents. Educational opportunities are important to both of us, we will work everyday to help our child to be a life-long learner.

Our Home:

We live in a quiet community in Western New York. We live in a charming ranch style home that we purchased in May of 2017. We love our house and our neighborhood full of kind and generous people.   When we purchased our home, on one acre of land, we envisioned playing with our children in the large backyard full of green grass and two apple trees. Within ten minutes of our home we have five various parks and playgrounds that we frequent with our nieces and nephews. Cynthia’s parents own thirty five acres of land nearby for even further outdoor adventures to share with our children. We frequently enjoy outdoor BBQs with family and friends on our back porch and patio when the weather is nice.

Our Professions:

We are both teachers in a small local public school. Tom is a K-12 Special Education Teacher and Cynthia is a Pre-K Teacher and Literacy Specialist. Cynthia is also a dance teacher at a local dance studio. Our careers as educators instilled in us a deep love for children and desire to help them grow each day. Making a positive difference in the lives of those around us has always been a priority. Cynthia plans to decrease her time teaching to be home with our future children. We will also have summers off to spend as a family.  Although teaching and being with children a lot has given us a purpose and a plethora of fun experiences, we both long for the chance to be parents.

Our Activities:

We love spending time with our large extended family. Our family gathers often to enjoy skiing, sledding, kayaking, hiking, swimming, playing sports, riding bikes together, going to a dance or music recital, playing board games, playing at one of our local parks together and celebrating holidays. We are both big New York Yankees fans. Tom grew up watching the Yankees with his father and hopes to do the same with his own kids. Cynthia became a Yankees fan through marriage (it was part of her wedding vows). Tom is also a New York Giants fan while Cynthia is a Denver Broncos fan. We both volunteer at local community and school events. Cynthia loves dance and photography; you can always find her taking photos! Tom is also a deacon at our church and we are involved in community outreach. We both work in our church’s Sunday school program and Cynthia is a Nursery volunteer.

In Closing:

You are in our thoughts as you consider us as adoptive parents for your child. Please know that your child will be in a loving home filled with laughter, encouragement and unconditional love.  We will share with them that you brought us the greatest blessing that we could be given. We look forward to this journey whatever this journey may hold. We wait in anticipation to take the next step in our adoption journey to share our lives, our family and our love with the child that we have been waiting for. Please know that we would welcome an open adoption whether this is sharing pictures, letters, or visits with you. However, we would also respect your choice if you are not open to this as well. Thank you for considering us as you make this difficult and life changing decision.

With Love and Hope,

Tom and Cynthia
