The process outlined above reflects the timeline that families have experienced. It is important to understand that your adoption journey may be slightly different. Families book and make travel plans with the approval from Family Connections Inc. Their Belizean attorney will help coordinate arrangements and paperwork as needed.
Family Connections, Inc. as your Primary Provider, will continue to provide you with ongoing support to assist your family with the transition home. Your family comes home with a Provisional Adoption. Quarterly Post Placement reports are required. After 12 months an application will be made to the Supreme Court by the Belizean attorney for the adoption to be made final. Families will need to complete a one year probationary period of custody before a final adoption decree can be issued by the Belize Supreme Court. Families will need to follow their state requirements to finalize the adoption also. Family Connections Inc recommends using an American Academy of Adoption Attorneys in your state to finalize the adoption.
