domestic adoptionDomestic Adoption occurs when birth parent(s) in the United States voluntarily surrender or lose legal custody of their child and then the child is placed with adoptive parents by the birth parent(s), an adoption agency, or by the State (if child is in foster care).  Is your family ready to adopt?

Family Connections, Inc. is an authorized adoption agency in New York State that is actively recruiting adoptive families for its Domestic Adoption Infant Placement Program.  The Agency has been providing domestic adoptions services for twenty years and would be honored to support your family's adoption of a newborn from New York State.  Please contact Renee or Anita at 607-756-6574 or renee@adoptfamilyconnections to learn more about the Agency's program.

Is Domestic Adoption right for your family?

  1. Can you open your home and heart to a child who was not born to you?
  2. Can you provide love, comfort, security, and stimulation for a child?
  3. Can you handle the emotional ups and downs of domestic adoption (e.g. not chosen by a birth family or birth family changes their mind and decides to parent the child)?
  4. Can you couple with the unpredictability of domestic adoption (e.g. when will a child arrive?; will the birth parents place for adoption?; will the child have unknown challenges?, etc)?
  5. Can you support the medical and developmental needs for a child with a less than perfect start in life (if child has a risky history)?
  6. Are you comfortable with the likelihood that your child will have medical and family unknowns?
  7. Can you prepared embrace a birth family?
  8. Can you have an on-going relationship with your child’s birth family (open adoption) if wanted by the birth parent?
  9. Can you be flexible, patient and prepared to overcome adoption glitches and uncertainty?
  10. Can to expand your family’s cultural identity (if you choose to adopt trans-racially)?

Theses are a few of the questions you need to consider as you decide upon the right adoption plan for your family.
