adoption services  Birth mothers, birth fathers, and prospective adoptive parents in Central New York (Syracuse, Cortland, Binghamton, Rochester, Utica) need the support and guidance of adoption professionals.

 

Family Connections, Inc. is proud to be the only authorized adoption agency in Central New York that has also acheived Hague Accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (national accreditation for the provision of quality services to children and families).  The Agency has been supporting birth families and adoptive families for twenty-years.  The Agency is located in Cortland, New York but serves birth parents and adoptive parents throughout all of New York State including Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, Albany, Buffalo, Utica, Watertown, New York City and all towns in between. 

 

If you are a woman with an unplanned pregnancy, Family Connections, Inc. can assist and guide you as you consider parenting your child or making an adoption plan for your child.  All services are free and confidential! and include:

  • Counseling services for birth mothers and birth fathers (and their extended family members)
  • Planning for the parenting of the child (if wanted by the birth parent)
  • Exploration of adoption options available to the birth family (e.g. closed, semi-open, or open adoption)
  • Provision of qualified adoptive parents from which the birth parent(s) may choose a family for their baby
  • Supporting the development of a relationship between the birth parent(s) and the chosen adoptive family (if wanted by the birth parent)
  • Provision of needed support  - for example, housing assistance, transportation, food, and clothing
  • Referral to community resources as needed - for example, drug/alcohol counseling, domestic violence services, and mental health services
  • Coordination of the birth parent(s) birthing and hospital plan 
  • Adoptive placement of the baby with the adoptive family chosen by the birth parent(s)
  • Life-long support for post-adoption contact between the birth family and adoptive family (if wanted by the birth family)

 

Family Connections respects the right of every birth family to make their own decisions regarding adoption!  The Agency will never influence or direct the choices of the birth parent.
